Your Rights as a Consumer
Butte Credit complies with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (California).
Important Notice Regarding Your Rights
Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving notice that you dispute the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, this office will assume the debt is valid.
If you notify this office in writing within the 30-day period that the debt, or any portion of it, is disputed, we will obtain verification of the debt and mail a copy of such verification to you.
Upon your written request within the 30-day period, we will provide you with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor.
Your Rights Include
You have the right to:
- Dispute the validity of your debt
- Request verification of the debt
- Request the name and address of the original creditor
- Be treated with respect and free from harassment or abusive practices
- Request that we limit or cease certain communications

Additional California Notice
The state Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act require that, except under unusual circumstances, collectors may not contact you before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. They may not harass you by using threats of violence or arrest or by using obscene language. Collectors may not use false or misleading statements or call you at work if they know or have reason to know that you may not receive personal calls at work.
